Auto-Rollover Help
Serial Port Internet Access
Enable Auto-Rollover
Check this if you have Broadband access, and you also have a modem and Dial-up account to use as a backup. If selected, the following options are available:
- Broadband failure detection
The default action is to lookup your ISP's DNS. If desired, you can lookup a different system by selecting DNS lookup public DNS server's IP and entering the Internet IP address of the system you wish to be looked up.
- Auto-Rollover wait time
This determines how long the Broadband connection must be unavailable before the Serial port will be used.
Note:
- If Auto-Rollover is enabled, the modem can NOT be used for Dial-in or LAN-to-LAN.
- Auto-Rollover cannot be enabled if the modem is used for Dial-in or LAN-to-LAN.
Dial-up Internet Account
Account/User Name
Enter the account name provided by your ISP. This name will be used to log into the ISP's server.
Password
Enter the current password for the above account.
Telephone
If using a Leased Line (permanent connection), ignore these fields.
Otherwise, enter the telephone numbers to dial to connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider). The first number is required, the second is optional.
Enter the telephone numbers using the format described in your modem's user manual.
Connect as required
This "auto-dial" setting is enabled by default.
- When Enabled, a connection is made whenever an Internet-bound packet is received, and the connection does not exist.
- When Disabled, a connection is never made automatically. You must dial manually, using the "Connect" button on the "Details" sub-screen of the serial port status screen.
Disconnect after Idle Time
This "auto-disconnect" setting is disabled by default.
- When Enabled, an existing connection is terminated when the connection is idle for the time specified in the "Idle Time" field.
- When Disabled, a connection is never terminated. You must hang-up manually, using the "Disconnect" button on the serial port status screen.
- Idle Time - Enter the desired time-out value. If you find the delay upon connection annoying, you can use a longer time period.
Internet IP Address
Select the appropriate option:
- Get Dynamically From ISP - This is the default, and the most common. Leave this selected if your ISP allocates an IP Address to the Router upon connection.
- Use Static IP Address - Select this if your ISP has allocated you a fixed IP Address, then enter the IP Address in the fields provided.
DNS IP Address
The DNS server is used to look up site addresses based on their names.
If your ISP gave you one or two DNS addresses, select Use these DNS servers and
type the primary and secondary addresses.
Otherwise, select Get automatically from ISP.
Click Apply to have your changes take effect.
